MEET THE HERD
The Hard Working Equines of Straight on Til Morning Farm

DOMINO
2002 DraftX Gelding
Domino has only been a part of the team since fall 2018. You'll see some photos throughout the site where he's being ridden (and boy is he a nice mover). We decided that there was too much physical and emotional discomfort for him to continue being a riding horse. With that behind him, he's flourished as a strong part of our EAL team.

"SKAMP" PASSING SHOWERS
2005 QH/MorganPercheron Mare
Skamp is one of our go-to lesson horses. She's great fun and safe for beginners, and she also likes to be used for for advanced students who want to let her stretch her legs. She's the daughter of Kampala and was born on the farm!

"HEART"Â Â Â Â Â HEART SKIPPED A BEAT
1997 Arab/QH Gelding
Heart has been with the herd since he was 5yo. As he's aging, we have considered him retired from our riding program. While he was Kerry's reliable riding partner for decades and he now gets to double down on treats and grooming. I just love to look at him and find him to be so handsome.

GUY
2005 QH gelding
Guy is a 14h pony who rules the herd. He's agreeable to beginner lessons as well as intermediate riders. He loves to jump and moves right along on the trail. A fan favorite!

"Butty" SOCIALBULL "Social ButterFly"
2007Â Arabian Gelding
SocialBull was a flattrack race horse (https://www.arabianracing.org/), then become an endurance horse, and is now transitioning into low level eventing. We partner him with sensitive intermediate and advanced riders.

"THUNDER"Â Â Â Â Â Â Â THUNDER AIN'T NO WIMP
2002 AQHA gelding
Thunder and I have a long history! He hasn't always lived with me, however, time has shown that it's his preference. He's partnered with English and Western Riders, Dressage, Fox Hunting, A Stockhorse Race, Obstacle Challenges, and Trail Riding. He's a good horse to have around!

THE JOLLY ROGER
2009 Morgan/Percheron Gelding
Jolly is our driving horse! He's a fun riding horse too and has partnered with English and Western riders, Hunter Paces, a Heavy Horse Race at Genesee Valley Hunt Cup. He's a beginner friendly fella who has a big personality!

"CHICKY"Â Â NEW HOPES BUENO CHICKLET
2014 Half AQHA mare
Chicklet is a lovely little mare who we partner with beginner and intermediate lessons students. She has a few devoted fans in the lesson program and is very capable of many things, if only they were her idea...

CINDER
2010 Mini (or Shetland pony?) gelding
Arriving Christmas 2019, Cinder has the least amount of history on the farm, however, he fits right in with a bold personality, healthy appetite, and offers lovable companionship to those doing chores and his mini friends.

LILY
2010? miniature horse mare
Lily is rumored to have been a driving pony at some point in her life. She has started accepting riders and likes to be groomed.

TROY
2010? Miniature Horse Gelding
Troy came to use with his pasture mate, Lily. They're buddies! Troy thinks he would like to be a jumping mini!

DAISY
2009 Arab X mare
Daisy came to us in the fall of 2022 and has found her place as a trail horse and a show horse. She likes a quiet, thoughtful, and athletic rider; is that too much to ask? She reminded Kerry of her first pony, Star, and so we "had to have her".

PORKCHOP SANDRA "SANDY'
2006 OTTB mare
Sandy comes to us as a mare with racing experience, eventing potential, and a siazable horsanality to match her massive physical size. Sweet as pie, sometimes open to your suggestions, she's a good girl.

COOKIES BY ZIP "STELLA"
2003 AQHA mare
Stella came to us in spring 2023 with a resume of showmanship, western pleasure, and HUS. She's getting to know our herd dynamics and really likes hanging out with her friends, Heart and Sandy.
HERD MEMBERS IN OUR HEARTS
Horses we have loved and cared for who have moved on to greener pastures, or to new homes.

EARLY SATURDAY
1976-2008 Tennessee Walking Horse Gelding
Early Saturday was our first horse. Mom received him as a teenager when we moved to Tioga County in the early 90s. He was gentle, hard to keep in the pasture, and beautiful!

INDIA
1987-2009 Warmblood Mare
We agreed to take India when she was in her final years. She was so safe and beautiful. She was only in our herd that we tried to make my father's riding horse... didn't work.
She was a high level dressage mare in her past and was a therapeutic riding horse for a number of years before coming to live with us and be a trail mare.

SECOND STAR
1987 grade pony mare
Star was a grade pony mare and I got her in 1994 for Christmas. She was sold (sadly outgrown) in 1999 and when I tried to track her down in the years to follow, I was unsuccessful.
What she did: Star was a trail boss and a pony racer. She was a show pony and a jumper as well as a member of our PonyClub's national games team the "Shooting Stars"
What she taught us: Oh where to start... so many things. One of the most unique things she brought to me as an opportunity to learn about Equine Massage Therapy.

"RUDY"Â Â Â Â VERY TRULY
1991-2016 OTTB gelding
Rudy was Kerry's best friend. He taught me so many things about riding and good horsemanship. Heart and I still miss him very much.

LUNA RIO
1998 Welsh?/QH? pony mare- SOLD
For a brief period in time I bought and sold a few ponies. As I became more aware of how quickly animals could end up in bad places, I soon realized that I didn't have the stomach for that.

KAMPALA
1988-2022 Morgan/Percheron Mare
One of our original horses .... back when we only had 3. Kampy was the mother of Skamp and spent many years happily retired. We said goodbye to Kampala in early 2022

HONEY 2000-2022
Mustang Pony Mare
Honey was one of our VERY best ponies. She was a super trustworthy gal and was game to try whatever we wanted to do. She taught many riders how to be confident in the saddle. It was a very sad summer day when we said goodbye in 2022.

CINNAMON SPAZ
2012-2022 Mini Mare
Spaz was the first mini that I agreed to reside on the farm. She reminded me that there ARE good minis in the world. We were very lucky to have her in our life. She was another mare we said a sad goodbye to in 2022.

2007-2023 Unraced TB Gelding
Blast was born on the farm. Kerry loves a bay Thoroughbred and he was a fun fella with a big personality. He seemed to enjoy jumping and we partnered him with intermediate riders. After years of trying to manage some discomfort he was presenting, he was put to rest after a Dx of Lymphoma.
"BLAST"Â Â Â Â Â AISLE HAVA BLAST

"Sister" My Friend Cheryl OTTB Mare 2001-2023
Sister arrived in May 2019. She turned out to be an experienced trail horse with some dressage training. We were happy to have Sister quietly retire here. Her physical comfort became harder to keep and she is laid to rest on the farm.
